Rail and Metro
RKSP Energy Ltd. expresses strong interest in contributing to the proposed Railway and Metro Infrastructure Projects in Kigali, Rwanda. The project focuses on developing a modern, resilient, and sustainable transportation system to support the country’s growing urban and economic needs.
The infrastructure is designed using advanced deep foundation systems that offer superior seismic performance compared to conventional shallow foundations. A reinforced concrete mat foundation supported by multiple reinforced concrete elements has been adopted based on detailed geotechnical and earthquake studies.
The project includes a 3.7-meter-thick reinforced concrete slab constructed with approximately 12,500 cubic meters of high-quality concrete. This ensures exceptional structural stability, long-term durability, and protection against groundwater chemical effects, making the system suitable for high-load and high-traffic urban transport environments.

This project directly supports Rwanda’s 2050 Vision by improving transport efficiency, strengthening economic development, and promoting resilient urban infrastructure. The railway corridor connecting Nemba (Bugesera) to Gatuna will enhance national and cross-border freight movement, while the Kigali metro routes will significantly improve urban mobility and passenger access.
The metro network includes key routes from Kagarama to Gicinyoni, Kagarama to Nyamirambo, Nyabugogo to Nyacyonga, Nyabugogo to Kigali International Airport, and Nyabugogo to Kagarama, forming a connected and efficient transport backbone for Kigali city. These routes will support both daily commuters and commercial transport, reducing congestion and improving travel reliability.
